What We do
Appro applies new thinking to create simple, valuable and trusted experiences with HPC technology focus. Appro offers power-efficient and performance-optimized platforms based on Appro's Scalable Units (SUs) and Supercomputing Cluster Architecture. The Appro SU is the building block that enables multiple clusters to be built, based on the same cluster architecture for small, medium and large-sized HPC deployments across a broad range of vertical markets. This architecture enables volume purchase of multiple clusters to be deployed as stand-alone supercomputers while providing customers flexibility and price/performance. Appro's performance history with its Scalable Supercomputing Cluster Architecture includes large installations to both Government and Commercial High Performance Computing customers.

The IT Computational Challenge and HPC Technology Trends
Today HPC revenue CAGR is estimated to be 7.0% from 2010 to 2015 reaching $36.0 billion in 2015, $10.4 billion growth 2011-2015. The growth will be the highest in 2011 and 2012 before moderating to more sustainable growth rates in the outer years. While clusters have revolutionized High Performance Computing, the standardization of operating systems has also made an impact. Linux and Windows have seen worldwide growth. Gigabit Ethernet, specifically 10GE will continue to show moderate growth along with the size of the HPC market, but InfiniBand providing high bandwidth and low latency capabilities will continue to show the best growth at the expense of alternative high-end proprietary interconnects. The amounts of raw data needed to process research analysis creates a huge demand for computing power and the use of multi-core processors helps feed this demand. The trend toward parallelism makes the industry adopts multi-core technologies while addressing unique workload configurations to support high performance computing application requirements. GPU and co-processor computing will also help accelerate this adoption; nevertheless, HPC users will still demand better reliability, availability, manageability, compatibility and power efficiency for their supercomputing installations.

Holistic Factory Services and HPC Solution Expertise
Appro System Delivery Integration Services and Engineering team designs the Best in Class Supercomputers to our customers. All services are factory assembled and integrated, pre-tested, packaged and ready to ship. Appro is capable of delivering up to 2 PetaFlops system with shortened production cycles including customer pre-acceptance testing with options for on-site professional installation and/or customized services.

The Third Generation, Appro Xtreme-X™ Supercomputer

Ideal Solution for Mid to Large-Sized HPC Deployments –
The new Appro Xtreme-X Supercomputer is based on industry standard, optimized server platforms featuring extreme compute density, increased performance/watt, multiple high performance network connectivity, I/O and disc options with choice of the latest processor technologies. The system will provide significant savings in power consumption through the intelligent energy-efficient design of the platform and utilization of liquid cooling solution and system configuration options for a mixture of data center architecture requirements. The Appro Xtreme-X Supercomputer is tightly integrated with the Appro HPC Software Stack providing a supported version of the Grid Engine Batch Scheduler compatible with most open source and commercial compilers, tools, schedules, and libraries. The Appro Cluster Engine (ACE) Management Software suite is part of the Appro software stack and is designed to eliminate the complexity of managing HPC clusters while providing all the necessary tools to run complex applications. ACE offers server, cluster, storage, and network management features combined with job scheduling, failover, load-balancing, and revision control capabilities with multi-Linux OS support.
