This Mini-Cluster is designed for the High-Performance Computing (HPC) market and is a fully integrated cluster solution supporting up to 17 compute blades including a master node. This is the ideal solution for customers who want to start small in a modular clustering computing environment. If transaction or database volumes grow, customers can add a full-size HyperBlade cluster cabinet that supports up to 80 nodes. HyperBlade servers can fit all cabinet sizes including a standard 19” rack offering the ability to mix and match cluster building blocks. 
 
The Appro Mini-Cluster provides a very densely packaged cluster building block, perfect for scaling up to meet the demands of the largest computational simulations while conserving floor space. The Mini-Cluster delivers outstanding price/performance in a truly flexible, modular and scalable blade clustering computing solution. Each HyperBlade is an independent server, with its own processors, memory, storage, network controllers, operating system and applications. The Mini-cluster is a self-contained smalll rack designed to address your most serious issues: space constraints, manageability, scalability, capacity, performance, cooling and power.

Appro HyperBlade server supports the Intel® Xeon® processors 3000 and 3200 series targeted for HPC only. These servers offer two boards per chassis nearly cutting the chassis and rack infrastructure cost in half. This cost-effective blade server delivers essential server-class features to reduce size, cost, power consumption and complexity. In addition it offers a small form factor board for high performance and high density computing applications enabling greatest system-level innovation. The two socket HyperBlade server solution features one PCI-Express x8 slot enabling added I/O such as GbE, Infiniband, SAS RAID cards with 4 DIMM slots (maximum 8GB) of DDR2 533/667 memory. It delivers maximum flexibility, high-performance and value.

In addition, Appro's offer customized power supplies with superior cooling systems to meet current and future processor technology needs. Appro HyperBlade architecture provides the performance, reliability, flexibility and headroom necessary to keep high-end server customers up and running.

Appro Cluster Management Solution, High-Speed Interconnect and Operating Systems options:
The Appro Cluster Management Solution is an outstanding hardware and software monitoring and management tool that gives you in-depth visual status on all your hardware subsystems. It consists of Appro BladeDome Remote Management Software and Appro Command Center, cluster management appliance. Appro BladeDome delivers server management functions, reduces IT complexity and improves administration efficiency while lowering the total cost of ownership. It now provides enhanced manageability by offering Optional Provisioning Manager allowing the IT administrator to rapidly, reliably, and remotely deploy operating systems, applications, patches, and more across all blade nodes simultaneously Appro offers high-speed interconnect options such as Myrinet, Dolphin, Quadrics and InfiniBand™ for all cluster solutions. Appro also offers a choice of Linux or Windows® operating systems

Intel® Xeon® Processor 3000 and 3200 Series:

Dual/Quad- Core - Provides two or four execution cores in one physical processor allowing the platform to do more in less time. Combines the compute density of DP Systems with the cost efficiency of UP Architecture.

Intel® Extended Memory 64 Technology Processors (EM64T) allow platforms to access larger amounts of memory and will support 64-bit extended operating systems.

Hyper-Threading Technology -Increases system response time by extending system performance beyond GHz operation.
