1. From Fluid Dynamics to Business Performance

From computational fluid dynamics simulations to analyzing multi-dimensional sales data, the underlying mathematics is the same and that unifies benchmarking for both high performance and business performance computing. In order to test the readiness of hardware running Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), OpenBench Labs tested the Appro XtremeServer which utilitizes the AMD Opteron™ processors to demonstrate the explicit capabilities of a single Appro Server to scale to a maximum of eight instances of Fluent parallel processing.

2. ANSYS/Fluent - Appro servers benchmarks
As design complexity has increased and computational power has become more available, leading manufacturers in many industries have adopted simulation as part of the design process. ANSYS, Inc. is a global innovator of simulation software addressing the needs of organizations in a wide range of industries including electronics, aerospace, automotive, chemical processing, civil engineering, defense, medical, and others. This benchmark suite consists of nine tests of three problem sizes (small, medium, and large). The problem size is determined by the number of cells that are solved for specific problem. 3. HPC Clusters power ANSYS/Fluent Flow Modeling Simulations
When clusters are used as an HPC solution, it is very important to look at the entire infrastructure, including optimized and validated HPC servers, choosing processor types as well as considering the right interconnects and switch technologies. These decisions are very important for the overall success for the cluster performance.
