Why HyperBlade Clusters?

Appro's HyperBlade Cluster is a fully integrated cluster solution using a hybrid Blade/1U form factor. Like blades, HyperBlades are modular servers plugged into a common backplane that eliminates cable clutter. But Appro's HyperBlades are independent servers, just like 1U servers, but are vertically mounted in a rack cabinet doubling the traditional rack- density making it an Ideal solution for HPC server consolidation.

Performance/Watt of HyperBlade Clusters

The ability to provide required power to servers and use it efficiently is a critical IT need. Choosing an optimal power solution requires the consideration of many factors, including the number of server enclosures needed, the type of servers to be installed and the type of available power. Typically, rack mounted server clusters will have a better performance/watt ratio due to optimal engineering of the cooling design of the individual servers and rack. Since HyperBlades are a close relative of traditional 1U servers, power consumption will closely match that of a traditional cluster using 1U servers. Appro 's servers feature an innovative system design for power efficiency, superior airflow for multiple processors in a high-density platform as well as the ability to utilize low power CPU's offering an excellent performance per watt ratio. HyperBlades vs Blade Servers

Appro's Hyperblade servers are a hybrid between true blades and 1U rack-mounted servers. HyperBlades are independent servers and have their own power supplies, fans, processors, memory, network controllers, operating systems and applications. HyperBlades plug into a common backplane (subrack) eliminating cable clutter for network and high speed interconnects. Even if you are using standard racks in your data center, Hyperblades mounted in subracks can be used to achieve higher density for data center system consolidation.
